Do you remember feeling seventeen? Moms, I am talking to you out there.
Late nights laughing with your friends, playing that one song on repeat because it gets you everytime, and the butterflies when your crush glanced your way. Seventeen is about knowing change is flying at you so fast, one minute you go from burrowing under your pillow late on a Saturday morning wanting everything to stay the same to sitting behind the wheel of your car dreaming about the day you are on your own.
My mom used to tell me I would “come into my own one day”. I am sure that was always met with a heavy sigh and some eye rolling. But truthfully, moms just want their kids to know growing up is hard and they will come through on the other side. You know this, because you were there once too.
Senior pictures might seem like another check-list item for senior year, but as a mom you know someday that one picture is going to hold so many emotions. You pull that album off the shelf and all of those feelings come flooding back. The experience of senior pictures is for who they are right now and having senior pictures is for later, because you both will want to remember what seventeen feels like.
My summer calendar is now open for creating that memory you will want to hold on to.
