It was 2010 and I was coasting along in my career and feeling unsettled. It was an unsettled feeling I couldn’t shake. I had plenty to keep me busy with a family, house, job but I was not fulfilled. I needed another plan to use my creativity to move myself forward.
In college my learning was of black and white film and development. Since then, a little thing called digital happened and a DSLR was all new to me. So the learning curve was steep!
But when I say I want to do something, I jump in feet first. I started taking in all the information I could. I loved this new learning and sought out a mentor to speed up my process. In 2010, I launched my business and was ready to welcome the class of 2011!
When I look back, those first five years were full of learning and growing a business. I am grateful to those early clients who took a chance with me and helped me to refine my process.
I remember experiences, smiles, locations and feeling satisfied. No longer unsettled, knowing my creativity had a home at Erica McKimmey Photography.
