I had a lightbulb moment.
I was chatting with a friend and shared how I answered a question on a job application a long, long time ago. If I did not have any restrictions, what would I do with time?
Quick pause while you ponder this question….
My answer? I said I would keep going to college. I would continue to take classes of interest to me and learn new things. Sounded pretty good, right?
What clicked for me is how photography fits into my truth. Ten years into my career, I had already earned my Master’s degree. Unless I wanted to go back to school, much of my new formal learning was in the past.
Over ten years ago I picked up a camera and dared to say I wanted to create a business. At that time, I couldn’t see what I was craving was more learning, more education and more exploration. If you consider photography as an art and science, the topic is huge!
But business is another endless topic all on its own and here I was ready to tackle both together!
No wonder ten years has flown by and I continue to scratch the surface of all the learning possibilities.
When I reflect on business and photography, I often speak about the education piece. I share my experince getting mentor, going to workshops and on-line learning. But the full-circle moment between my interview question and photography clicked today. Duh!
Here is to 10 years of learning and many more to come!
